Growing Muscles While Sleeping
A lot of people go to the gym, they work out properly and are eating high quality food. Still they don't seem to gain muscles in the speed that would be expected for the effort they put in. For those that are sincerely focusing and still not able to grow as fast as they wish there might be something else then effort that's missing.
Sleep.
By giving your body a full nights sleep you give it the base it needs to be able to build stronger muscles. Examine your sleeping patterns; do you have a deep sleep or one that is light with interruptions? Is it easy for you to fall asleep or do you toss and turn for hours? Do you feel rested when you wake up or do you take hours to get going?
Most of the bodily growth is happening while we are sleeping and this includes muscle growth. Look at the kids; you might sometimes think they grew an inch while sleeping and this is not so far from the truth. They sleep a lot more than adults and it is during these valuable hours that their bodies grow the most.
When you've been asleep for about 40 minutes your level of growth hormones raises, and this includes the amount of testosterone which is on of the most important hormones for muscle growth. The growth hormones aids the process in which nutrition is being transformed into new muscular cells.
If your body doesn't get the proper deep sleep it so well needs, it won't be able to switch from work-mode to relax-mode. In this way this building up process will fall behind and your body won't have the ability to recover as fast as it would with a good sleep each night.
There are many thing that you can do to improve the quality of your sleep. It's often easier to fall asleep if you take your time in the evening to wind down for a few hours. Have a cup of herbal tea with calming properties, such as chamomile or peppermint, or drink a cup of warm milk. This can help you to slow down and become more relaxed.
Find ways to relax that works for you, maybe read a nice book, listen to some relaxing music or even get a tape with some relaxing exercise, like hypnosis. Do what feels just right for you.
For the body to be able to build you want to give it some energy not too far before going to bed. However it's good to give the body at least one hour after your last meal before you go to bed for the body to be able to digest it properly. This will make the quality of your sleep higher. The meals you're having in the evenings should include a good amount of protein for your body to have the ability to use it for the muscle building process.
Sleeping medicine can surely make you fall asleep easier, but it lessens the quality of the sleep and shouldn't be taken over a long period of time since they might cause your body to get dependent on them.
If you give your body the time it needs to be able to do the work that it needs to do, you'll be amazed to see how fast your muscles can grow.
