Is Coral Calcium Tea As Good As Supplements?

by Lee Dobbins

Drinking coral calcium tea might seem like a good solution to getting all the benefits of the calcium and minerals your body needs but, in fact, it is not as good as a pill or supplement. If you are coral calcium tea drinker it is important for you to know that you are only benefiting from approximately 2% of the marine coral's nutrients which is dissolved in the water of the tea. Basically you are drinking coral water.

When coral calcium is put into clean water there are both physical and chemical change that take place which are beneficial to your health. The alkalinity of the water goes up which make its pH level higher and help to balance the ph level of the body. The coral calcium also changes the an oxidation reduction potential of the water. However there is not enough of the coral sand in the tea bags to produce a rapid physico-chemical change. If the tea bag did produce these rapid change most likely they have been treated by adding other strong alkalinizing substances such as calcium hydroxide or other hydroxides or an oxide of alkaline metal.

It's OK to drink coral calcium tea, but if you really want to benefit from the minerals in coral calcium, you'll also have to take a supplement.

Many a times people who drink coral calcium tea are not even aware of the amount of coral calcium that is there in their drink. The estimate is that depending on the brand and the type of tea bag and capsule you would receive between ten and fifty times the mineral nutrients in a capsule as opposed to the tea.

But this tea, often called coral water, still has many medicinal purposes and is considered a homeopathic treatment for many aches and pains. Its benefits are derived from the mineral enrichment of the coral water and the coral calcium that lived in it. In addition to the calcium, there are a variety of minerals each of which is important for our health.

While consuming coral calcium tea is beneficial, it should not take the place of dietary calcium supplements. Be sure to only buy from a reputable company and check with your health care professional before adding any supplement to your daily regimen.
