Tips for Goth Fashion

While black has been the main staple of Goth fashion for years, it takes much more than simply putting on a black outfit to achieve the Goth look. True, the Goth subculture itself isn't really about fashion. However, you tell the world something about yourself by the way you dress.

The purpose of dressing Goth is to portray your individuality. While black is always a good color to start with, many Goths feel free to enhance it with shades of grey and white.

More and more, you see rich colors such as hot pink, dark red, and royal blue as part of Goth outfits. But still, one thing remains consistent: Black is the primary color.

The right accessories are most important when you dress according to the Goth style. The style is characterized by lots of jewelry and often lots of piercings. Silver or pewter jewelry is common, usually in dramatic or chunky styles.

Religious symbols are popular as pendants, as they can be an important part of who someone is. Patterned tights are not unusual, nor are gloves and sleeves (arm warmers). Striped or fishnet tights are a way to work color into Goth fashion.

It's very easy to find clothes that will help you dress in a Goth style. One great place to start is at a local thrift shop. This way, you find lots of stuff for cheap, and you'll be able to alter it to your tastes. You can dye it or add studs.

But of course, since many people are keenly interested in the Goth look, a lot of companies have caught on and are supplying stores with lots of Goth-style clothing. You can make your outfit unique with your own jewelry and accessories.

You have thousands of choices when it comes to dressing in Goth fashion. You'd have a hard time finding two Goths dressed alike; it's all about individuality.
