Anti Aging Skin Care Products Are They For You

by Steven McCarthy

A couple years ago it was reported that Americans bought over six billion dollars of anti aging skin care products. Many of these products were bought over the counter at drug stores and department store cosmetic counters with the advice of a store clerk. Times change and now people are busier than ever and don't have the time to get in their car drive to the store read labels ask questions compare products to try and reach a decision on which product to try.

You may have also noticed a wrinkle reducer cream among the skin care products. These are generally comprised of cell damage reversing antioxidants like vitamin A (retinoids), B, C or E that are intended to neutralize free radicals and stimulate your body's natural collagen production. As you know, collagen injections are a popular and relatively inexpensive way of bolstering your skin's rejuvenation process. You can try Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Cream, Retinol or L'Oreal's Line Eraser. Alpha Hydroxy Acids are a less potent first line defense against skin aging and Peptide products like StriVectin, Olay's Regenerist Serum or Este Lauder's Perfectionist are cosmeceuticals that also stimulate natural collagen production.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, they say. There are anti aging skin care products for people in their 20s or 30s that may stave off unsightly lines and wrinkles from developing, while encouraging the body to continue its natural skin rejuvenation regiment. Watch your exposure to the sun's UV rays, there is no substitute for using sunblock or just steering clear of the sun between noon and 3 pm. An SPF of 45 blocks out harmful UV rays by 99%, according to Cornell University. Try using a moisturizer daily to re-hydrate and heal damaged skin. A crucial weapon in combating combating environmental stress factors like pollution and cigarette smoke is Antioxidants. Antioxidants can include amino-peptides, green tea extract, coenzyme Q10, vitamin C and vitamin E.

When we get into our fifties the oil glands start to secrete less often, and that is when you start to notice the uncomfortable feeling of tightening skin, and you'll start to notice the beginning's of fine lines. Keep in mind the importance of a good daily moisturizer While researching skin rejuvenation products, using a high quality moisturizer will help in creating softer skin by reducing wrinkles and giving you a more youthful appearance.

A few years ago, Americans purchased $6.4 Billion worth of anti aging skin care products (also referred to as "cosmeceuticals.") Most of these products are purchased over-the-counter without a prescription, although that can make it more difficult to select an effective solution that works. There are some options you can educate yourself on, but if you feel particularly overwhelmed staring at an entire aisle full of dry skin care products, such as anti wrinkle creams, retinoids, exfoliants, alpha hydroxys and wrinkle reducer face washes, then you may prefer a consultation with a licensed dermatologist first.

So it came to me as a pleasant surprise that a groundbreaking series of independent, published studies demonstrated without a doubt the amazing effectiveness of LifeCell's anti-aging ingredients on our skin. Most of the research has been conducted by Harvard, Yale, Cornell and Oxford University's medical departments. And as their website states, one of the anti-aging ingredients in LifeCell produces a Nobel Prize winning molecule that does absolute miracles for our skin.

According to many Dermatologist's, "We're seeing many more women with sun damage at earlier ages today, and the number of young women with skin cancer is startling". The market for anti aging skin care products is booming with new products to treat a variety of aging skin problems. However, many consumers aren't sure where to start. Which is better? A $10 generic anti wrinkle cream, a $300.00 high-end wrinkle reducer, or a $500 laser procedure?
